Pet Plan Insurance
I have pet insurance through Pet Plan Insurance. When I took my dog, Halle, for her first checkup the vet told us we
could get 6 weeks of free insurance with Pet Plan Insurance and could then choose to keep the coverage and start paying for it, or
cancel it at the end of the 6 weeks. I figured since it was free I might as well take advantage of it.
The very next day Halle started coughing. It was kennel cough which became severe and resulted in
pneumonia. We had to go through several courses of antibiotics and had to go for x-rays twice which is very expensive. We were sure lucky to have
that insurance! So we decided to keep it after our trial was up, and it's a good thing.
Months later she dislocated a knee, we found out it was a common condition where the knee socket is too shallow, and ended up having to have
$1500 surgery to repair the joint, and then again on the other knee a couple months later. We never would have been able to afford all of Halle's
medical treatments in her first year and probably would have to give her up or put her down without that insurance. She is now very healthy and
happy and very much a part of our family. I may look for a different provider with lower rates but I will always have insurance for my dog
because you just never know.
